Tatiana Mejia

Tatiana Mejía (1983, DR/DE) is a Dominican choreographer and performer based in Berlin.

Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, she started her dance studies in The National Dance School in Santo Domingo. There she developed and presented several works with her company Desdoblados at Casa de Teatro and the International Dance Festival Edanco. Later, she became a founding member of the National Contemporary Dance Company.  Since 2011 she has lived in Berlin, performing at the Sophiensaele, Dock 11, HAU, Schaubühne, Maxim Gorki Theater, Tanzhaus NRW, Berghain, K3 Center for Choreography Hamburg and Kuyum Arts Festival at Theaterhaus Berlin Mitte… In 2021, she premiered the dance film “Kiskeya,” supported by the Senate Berlin Department of Culture and Europe and Fonds Darstellende Künste.

Mejía was artist-in-residence for American Dance Festival (USA), Bates Dance Festival (USA) and the Fund for the Ibero-American Performing Arts Iberescena at Ponderosa, Germany. She has recently been supported by the Distanz-Solo fund and a #takeheart Residency with Hamburg Kampnagel. She collaborates with artists like Zwoisy Mears-Clarke, Kareth Schaffer, Olivia Hyunsin Kim, Jeremy Shaw, Martha Hincapié, Jasmin Irhac, Sergiu Matis, and Magda Korsinsky.
