Tanzanian Tadhi Alawi is a dancer and choreographer. In 2022 he received a grant from the Swiss Sudkulturfonds to support his artistic practice. He leads the Nantea Dance Company and is co-director of the Contemporary Dance Night and the Tanzanian outreach dance project Nje Ndani. His dance films ‘BODY VS MOUTH’ and ‘STAY AT HOME’ were promoted on BBC News during the global pandemic in 2020.
Tadhi Alawi is also a founding member of the Umoja Artists in Residency programme in Tanzania and co-curator of the Dance Platform Project, the project which is inviting artists from Sub-Saharan region during the Habana Haba International Dance Festival, collaborated with the Goethe-Institut regional Office in Johannesburg.
