INSTRUMENTS IN FLUX

by Naledi Majola

The Instruments in Flux workshop explores the relationship between sound, movement and clothing. Naledi Majola will take participants on a journey to develop a performance. How is performative material created, how can creative processes be generated?

Using a personal garment as a starting point, the workshop will focus on the body and its relationship to clothing as an instrument. How does a garment transform the body and how does the body transform the garment?

The material will be explored through free writing and improvisation exercises; voice, sound, movement and their story and relationship to the body. Movements and rhythms will be developed inspired by the garment and the way we connect with it. At the end of the workshop, we will see how the individual rhythms could come together to create a collective form, a shared performance.
