The workshop explores the “pre-expressive” possibilities of the scenic body considering the basic principles of “energy”, starting from the practice of theatrical anthropology. In Body Balance Black Fusion we focus on the use of movement with elements from the dances of the black diaspora as well as the activation of the energy centres of the body. The use of the voice as an extension of the body and the breathing process are also fundamental components of the method developed by Gaya Dandara. By activating the spinal axis and the voice, the method invites performers to experience non-ordinary states of the body from a transcultural perspective.
