Workshop with live drum music by Florent Nikiema
Florent Nikiema’s lessons are based on an introduction to the rhythms of the famous West African drums. These rhythms run through the spine as a progressive wave, followed by rebounds that burst out in great and powerful leaps. drawing symbolic shapes with the arms and head, sometimes controlled, sometimes free in the space around them.
After an introduction, dance phrases will be learned through diagonal crossings to a choreography and an open improvisation at the end of the course. Participants will also be introduced to Afro-Contemporary, a movement theory developed by Florent based on the deconstruction, transformation and re-composition of various assimilated techniques.
