Kossi Sebastien Aholou-Wokawui, dancer, choreographer and dance teacher from Togo, invites you into the world of Afro-Somatic technique in his course.
Afro-Somatic is the deconstruction of African dance with Afro-Urban expression, a synthesis of traditional dances from West Africa, Western contemporary dance and Caribbean dance from Haiti, Cuba and elsewhere, in which a free body, open mind and fluidity dance. This technique is in constant dialogue with the cosmos and nature; it works primarily with rootedness, breathing and flexibility of the spine. It is based on energy, rhythm, earthy and grounded movement; the strongest elements of African dance, with a focus on improvisation and the interplay of music and dance.
