Workshop with live drum music by Yahi Nestor Gahe
Participants in this workshop will learn various movements with Yahi Nestor Gahé inspired by dances from Côte d’Ivoire such as Ziglibity, Gbégbé, Digba and Zaouli. These traditional dances are based on stamping movements and symbolise man in rhythmic symbiosis with the earth and nature.
In class, special attention is given to basic techniques such as posture, good footing and centring through awareness of one’s own axis above the spine. Participants dance to live music played to earthy and pulsating rhythms, enjoying the power of the dance and the group, and are encouraged step by step to develop their own improvised solo.
